The Scarab Studio
We are privileged to work within the hallowed walls of the old Midland Railway Workshops in Perth, Western Australia. Many master craftsmen have worked here before us and we are proud to continue those traditions. We are also very happy to share our studio space with fellow fine artisans Future Shelter, one of Perth’s finest creative businesses.
Our Facilities
Scarab Studio Wood hosts an impressive array of capabilities. Through the fusion of modern computer-based technologies and time honoured processes of hand craftsmanship, we are equipped to conceptualize, design, and execute any project imaginable.
Traditional Woodcraft
With over three decades of traditional woodworking expertise, Master Craftsman Peter Cook is recognised as one of Australia’s finest designer makers. With Peter at the helm, Scarab has become similarly recognised for its unmistakably high level of craftsmanship.
3D Printing
Our studio embraces 3D printing technology for everything from concept models and scale mock-ups, to custom componentry in bespoke and production projects. Through our in-house 3D printing capabilities, we are continuously exploring and innovating, adding an exciting dimension to our traditional craftsmanship.
Computer Controlled Routing
At Scarab, we’re passionate about both new and old forms of craftsmanship. Our in-house CNC machining combines advanced computer-aided design with precision automation, allowing us to tackle everything from high-volume production, to bespoke designer creations. All done with perfect accuracy while preserving the artisanal quality of traditional woodworking.
Laser Cutting and Engraving
Utilizing our state-of-the-art laser technology we excel in precision engraving and cutting, from one-off jobs, to large-scale production runs in fine wood and other materials. We can cater to a wide range of client requirements with professionalism and efficiency.
